Baird Soule,
Sony reported yesterday that PlayStation2 sales in Japan are currently at a 4 to 1 pace when compared to the previous PlayStation introduction. The article stated that they have three million consoles delivered in the first five months...evidently, it took them twenty months to deliver three million of the original playStation. All indications are that they are having no trouble getting all the necessary components.
Even though ELBO's margins on the actual console will be thin, I keep licking my chops thinking about the 4 to 1 games to console tie ratio that EB should average at introduction. That will be an incredible number of games sold in a very short time span, leading into the holiday shopping season...not to mention accessory sales, etc. Also, Firestone has promised that ebworld.com will make money in the second half and so revenue and earnings should be through the roof. I guess we will know soon enough...only 84 days until the intro.
Best regards,
RBL
