There was only two days between the two bombs. There was also an attempted overthrow of the emperor by a military faction before the surrender. Quite likely, these zealots were probably among the most responsible for atrocities against other countries, prisoners of war, and against the citizenry of Japan. As presented in the program, one of the justifications for the bombing was the public opinion to get back for the embarrassment of Pearl Harbor. Another source: users.erols.com
