Well, I don't know if that were so.Perhaps. I am not sure how one would establish it. Frankly, we killed more people firebombing Tokyo, and, I believe, cities like Dresden. That is one reason I find it remarkable for people to go on looking for special reasons that the atomic bombs were used. No one really saw any need not too. Yes, one could do an incredible amount of damage with one bomb, and that made an impression, but I do not think that, at that point, most people saw it as qualitatively different from actions that had already been taken to break the will to resist........
