jim:

Went digging around the USITC site website for the INTC - VIA case. On June 5, INTC moved to have the US Patent 5740385 deleted from the complaint as partial termination. I believe that this is the "partial settlement" move trumpeted in the media. Interestingly, Via did the legal equivalent of rubbing INTC's face in the mud on this, and asked that it be publicized, stating that "it would be contrary to the public interest to permit Intel to shield its "misconduct".."

This is hardly consistent with INTC giving Via the keys to the P4 chipset, and more consistent with an ongoing, litigious relationship.

On another, MOST interesting note, INTC's counsel on this case is also RMBS counsel on the Hitachi / Sega case....he, he, he, he... (or bwahaha, as it may be).

Food for thought
