Speaking of conspiracies, I just found this classic usenet post from Dick's friend John Corse, explaining how Intel and Rambus are just trying to rescue us from the dreaded DRAM cartel. Too bad, it looks like Rambus is going to have to go it alone soon.

Keep complaining about a 1% royalty while SDRAM prices double in price by the fall and the blood sucking DRAM cartel laughs all the way to the bank with your money. Get it through your head. Prices and supply are being controlled by the DRAM cartel. They don't want to lose control. Just like the Colombian drug cartel and the OPEC oil cartel. It's pure bull shit about RDRAM prices. RDRAM prices have everything to do with supply issues that the DRAM cartel controls. This is why when Intel called the DRAM manufacturers to discuss on supply issues, they didn't want to talk with Intel individually but only as a group. The DRAM cartel group. Everything else is pure BS. You guys are fighting the wrong battle while the DRAM cartel is laughing at your expense for having able to pulled a fast one on you.

You want reality? Reality is that SDRAM prices have gone up 33% the past month and all in the DRAM cartel pockets. And that's just the beginning. Reality is that Micron's stock is at an old time high. Reality is that the DRAM cartel is making money head over fist. And reality is that the 1% royalty has nothing to do with it. Reality is that SDRAM and DDR are dead end products. Reality is that Rambus is the only memory that is available today with the scalability and bandwidth for tomorrow's applications. Given a huge supply from the DRAM cartel, there is no reason why RDRAM can not be as cheap or sheaper than SDRAM.

You can click on Corse's name in the link to read much, much more of a similar nature. There's plenty enough of a similar nature posted right here, but Corse doesn't quite have the groupthink support network going for him that the locals do.

Cheers, Dan.
