I currently trade the QQQ exclusively. I use three chart time frames: 1) long term-- week chart; 2) intermediate term-- day chart; and 3) short term-- sixty minute chart.

Long term criteria. I use the last two bars of the MACD histogram on the week chart to determine the longer trend direction and only trade in this direction.

Intermediate term criteria. I use the Stochastic (10,3,1) %D (slow) to determine general market turning points. I look for entry points when and only when slow stochastic has bottomed and begins to rise.

Short term criteria. I use the short term Stochastic (10,3,1) %D to determine entry and exit timing. For entries I want the short term cycle signal to coincide with the intermediate term signal.

I balance this information with the probabilities work I have posted on my website.

To give a practical example of the timing of my system, I expect to see a long entry sometime tomorrow (probably mid day).

Matt
