Aus,
Regarding buying a camera online, I have done it and wish I hadn't. I bought a Canon s100 (the digital elph) for $599 the first week it was available in the US from PCZONES.com. The sales guy was nice (I called in to confirm the camera was in stock and would ship that day), the camera arrived the next day, but it didn't work. There was an internal error, and PCZONES said I had to mail it Canon. PCZONES would not replace the camera (they did not tell me this at the time of ordering, otherwise I would not have ordered online). PCZONES said their inability to accept the defective product and replace it is a condition placed on them by Canon. So, I mail it to Canon, at my expense, and after 4 weeks of not hearing anything, I called Canon, at my expense, and was told that they had not done anything with my camera because their computer system was not set up to track the repair work. So, I bought the S100 on June 18. Today is August 2. I do not have a working camera, my AMEX card has been billed, and there is nothing I can do. Now contrast that with my buddy's experience with Wolf Camera. He went in to the store, and bought the S100 and was given 10 days to use it and return if he didn't like it. Guess how much he paid for that service, $599.
So, I don't see a problem ordering CF cards, printing paper, etc. from buy.com or other retailers. But, a sophisticated electronic consumer device--no way unless I can return, unconditionally.
