Savannah Foods' parent company, Imperial Sugar Co., will find out the true identities of several people it claims are posting damaging messages on the Internet.

Friday, the 152nd District Court in Harris County, Texas (Houston area) ordered Web directory Yahoo Inc. to release the identities of eight people posting messages about Imperial Sugar on a Yahoo message board.

Yahoo has until Aug. 3 to release the identities of the eight users. The eight currently go by the following user names: ducko-1999, mouthofthesouth1961, bestinthewest-95337, midwestrader, henryvii2040, shawnelson, irightuwrong, and buy-lower-sell-higher.

Some of the information Yahoo will be giving Imperial Sugar includes registration records, billing records, login records, e-mail addresses, posting records and call identification records.

Imperial Sugar officials allege the eight users named in the court filing have suggested sexual and substance abuse at Imperial facilities or have possibly violated Securities and Exchange Commission rules.

According to the court order, Imperial Sugar's request was granted because not releasing the names "may prevent a failure or delay of justice in an anticipated suit" (against the people who posted messages).
