Ian - yes I saw your post to that effect on the AMAT thread and I totally agree. Perhaps I should have stressed the baby/bathwater part (i.e. 'just wait') rather than claiming an industry wide supply problem. However, the entire sector, front- and backend alike, has badly deteriorated over the last couple of weeks. While Klic's announcement now fills the rationale for the backend, I'm not sure it's valid to invoke the bathwater argument for the sustained weakness in the frontend.

The frontend weakness suggests there are supply/capacity issues effecting these companies as well.
