hi dave rose,

where do they come from? would i avoid them? they are units that were shipped, developed problems that could not be resolved via tech support, and were returned for replacement machines. i would not avoid them. however, if i could afford new, that's the way i'd go.

the only refurbished puter i'd personally feel good about is a dell from their factory outlet site

dell.com

the reasons are threefold...

1) you get the dell name and quality
2) you get the same as new warranty
3) you get the same as new technical support

please, however , do your own diligence. <g> i note on their site that they are telling people to write for a copy of their warranty. my info regarding 'same as new' warranty comes from their ads.

your mileage may vary. void where prohibited. this offer may only apply for members of si's famous computer learning thread.

:)
