For digital divide, the technology is too fast with format changes. On the other hand format changes offer obsolescence and replacement economical benefits. So, it is a factor of how soon can the management change to accommodate in the market place. For companies such as MAT or HAS, they have marketing muscles. For software companies it is do or die, can they get all their installed base to change with them. It is a question of customer budget? You have to budget the customers so that they can afford it and the revenue still can give you growth.

MAT has a new president. It is a gamble, how he is going to formulate the direction of toys. It won't be easy, but with about 2.8 million children born each year in this country, the new customers will be 0-6 years old. Barbies will be still good, but 0-2 or 3 year olds have to have more choices for toys.

In management, is there ever anything new? Hit those new customers born each year. Mothers' pride and joy, needs pacifiers to give mothers a break. They will spend and then spend some more!
