A quick note from Opticon: When the conference planners first decided to hold the show they planned on around 500 attendees. They ended up with nearly 1800 pre-paid and with total attendance well over 2000. Dan Smith's keynote was standing room only. And the most often-repeated message was components --- there aren't enough, they're difficult to produce, and where can we invest. There is a reason SDL's holding up as strong as it is in a down market. One start-up in Ottawa in the passive component space has had to turn away investors. A story I've heard from several others as well. The beauty of the situation is that this isn't hype based on some hoped-for tomorrow. The shortage is real and vendors are screaming for products now. I'll post more this week-end when I have more time. Pat
