ALbert, True, they are so close that other aspect of system design will make up the difference, Video cards, faster drives, etc.
As for cannibalisation? yes, it can happen, however I hope that AMD releases a chip that brings the Athlon to supremacy again. More cache, optimised layout etc, a bit better microcode etc....all quite doable.
It is a true race now.
However Intel still has a lot fewer horses running at the fastest speeds.Looks like about 1 at 1 Gihz and above for every ten AMD has in the running.
