Uno maas thing: I can see how a carrier in a greenfield buildout would want to kick-start their operation with subsidized handsets. After all, you need to get people "hooked" as you go after the holy grail of network economies, increasing returns, yadayada. But once you have 60% penetration, the "kickstart" argument doesn't really make sense anymore. It seems like all you are doing with the gimmicks in such a scenario is increasing the churn.
