Hi Telecomguy,

actually yes, Cisco is renowned for their leadership in using Internet technologies to streamline their business processes. Almost all of their orders come over the Internet. That is why customers like to do business with Cisco. They make it so easy.

Like any inhouse IT shop, I'm sure that they hire vendors to do some of the development work, especially now that developers are so hard to find. But the more this type of work is outsourced the higher the costs are. Those are the trade offs.

All this is of course one piece of the puzzle. I'm not going to say that because Nortel is doing this, they are going down the tubes. All I'm saying is that I hope outsourcing doesn't make them lose the focus on using Internet technology inhouse to streamline their business.
