I think Ben Rose has got to qualify as nearly the all time worst analyst in enterprise software. Let's see over the last 18 months: Buy Vantive, SELL (Not Hold but SELL) SEBL (I think I have his downgrade framed too.) Neutral Mercury Interactive, BUY Segue Strong Buy on every 5th tier banking relationship dot com crap, ask jeeves, net perceptions, PSDI, yada yada. (BTW can anyone tell me what moldflow does?) but the best are his sell ratings, reminds me of eric buck from dlj on cisco. way back when (before wiz and nn were popping 8th grade zits) there was the paine webber software analyst with the sell rating on microsoft predicitng $5 per share losses due to his absolute conviction that they would lose the apple suit.) i thought he took an upstate vacation at a funny farm after that. ah the joys of being on the sell side, everyone remembers the flameouts.....
