Hi, Bill,
CGIX being low with low, low volume. There are two positive news from CGIX. I will post it in two message. EDIS has good news release too. GIC(General Instrument) is in Jul/Aug. issue of Worth megazine as Stocks to Consider---fair value @45 ---gloval market leader, cost of raw materials has dropped, profitable synergies from merger---. I don't own it yet. Here is the news of CGIX.
PITTSBURGH, June 20 // -- Carnegie Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: CGIX) (CGI), announced that it has been selected to provide a level 3 PSS system for IPSCO Inc.'s new steel mini-mill being built in Montpelier, Iowa.
CGI successfully demonstrated the benefits of a new technology called Constraint Logic Programming through a prototype developed exclusively for IPSCO's coil and plate complex. Development of the complete system will allow plant managers to run a variety of what-if and test scenarios to maximize throughput and production even before mill startup.
Steve Morrison, director of systems and facilities scheduling, IPSCO Inc., stated, "Our in-line plate facility presents a unique set of scheduling challenges. We are pleased with the expertise and ideas that Carnegie Group brings to the project and have already seen many benefits to the approach they are taking." Mr. Morrison added, "We believe that the completed planning and scheduling system will be a key factor in the successful operation of our new plant."
Developers using Constraint Logic Programming enjoy reduced development time, improved application memory efficiency, and easier maintenance and extendability. Constraint Logic Programming separates problem representation and solution search, and propagates constraints to deduce choice consequences, reduce search space, and backtrack when detecting inconsistencies.
Members of Carnegie Group's steel scheduling project team are experts in applying knowledge-based systems for production planning and scheduling. Plants using systems developed by CGI are experiencing significant reduction in inventory, stock and cost.
The new dynamic scheduling application for IPSCO Inc. rounds out a number of similar installations in other steel mills around the country for customers including Acme Steel and Gulf States Steel. CGI differentiates itself as a systems integrator by developing core "reusable technologies" which are then customized for each customer's unique needs.
"Our strength is our experience and technology in environments like IPSCO's new mill," commented David Ruppersberger, Carnegie Group's vice president, business development. "We have years of experience implementing advanced systems in the metals industry that have saved our clients significant time, inventory and dollars. A combination of industry experience and careful listening to the customer enabled us to identify IPSCO's productivity goals in order to provide a proven, cost-effective solution to get them there."
Carnegie Group, Inc. provides software development services that integrate advanced software technologies within a client/server architecture. The resulting applications improve its clients' productivity and competitive market position in three business areas: customer service, customer contact, and logistics, planning, and scheduling.
