Tero, you slay me.

"European operators naturally went with W-CDMA to get the easiest upgrade from GSM-GPRS. You can't blame them for that, either."

You can repeat it as much as you want and hope it becomes true, but calling WCDMA an easy 'upgrade' from GSM is like saying the bimbettes in NOK's IR are 100% qualified to answer investor questions.

The WCDMA 'alliance' is nothing more than a popularity contest based on blueprints and cock-eyed dreams. What's gonna happen when the truth starts leaking out that WCDMA is too slow and too late, and operators throughout the world are enjoying fast, proven and exciting shiny new CDMA2000 networks? I'll tell you what's gonna happen, the whole house of cards is gonna crumble.

But actually, the WCDMA house of cards I'm sure will crumble before that. I can't help but think so called WCDMA vendors are gonna let operators roll out CDMA2000 networks left and right and (knowing WCDMA is years from deployment) not want to get their hands in the pie too. Corp. eyes will blink, knees will buckle, and deals will be made before all this happens. Count on it. We're seeing it happen already.
