The product I've wanted to see for a long time is a vehicle-optimized setup that would be preferable to the many G* users that will never need to use their phone away from a vehicle.

My idea is the handset is a normal cell phone in every way, except one--it has an outlet for plugging into an external, vehicle mounted G* antenna. When the owner is in terrestrial mode the handset would have the familiar small size, long battery life, etc of a modern cell phone. When plugged into the vehicle...it will work anywhere G* works.

The vehicle mounted antenna receiver--freed of the power/size constraints implicit in a handheld device--should be cheap (certainly cheaper than the current asking price for "car kits.")
