A CHILD'S PRAYER

O heavenly Father, protect and bless all things that have breath: guard them from all evil and let them sleep in peace. - Albert Schweitzer (when a child)

(Schweitzer writes: "As far back as I can remember I was saddened by the amount of misery I saw in the world around me. One thing that especially saddened me was that unfortunate animals had to suffer so much pain and misery. It was quite incomprehensible to me why in my evening prayers I should pray for human beings only. So when my mother had prayed with me and kissed me good night, I used to add silently (the above) prayer that I had composed myself for all living creatures.")

Hi Rick! Good to have you back online - you know you were missed! Glad to hear that your trip was good. Enjoyed your positive attitude post the other night, but didn't have a chance to send you a note. The above prayer was found in a book called "Graces". Lately, after my daughter says her "standard" meal-time prayer, she's asked me to read a new one from this book. I came across this one the other night, and thought it was sweet. Kind of thought of your racoons for some reason, even though their not exactly in misery ;)

A belated Welcome back!
