cosmo, Just for grins, try this on for size. When a tree falls to the ground in the forest,the impact causes waves to be transmitted through the air, but these cannot be considered sound until these waves strike the tympani of an ear, and are transformed by the functions of the middle and inner ears, into sonic waves that are read by the brain as sound. Therefore, if no one is in the forest when the tree falls, no eardrums are present to intercept the waves that are caused by the impact, so there is no sound. ~H~
