And here is the more likely scenario. How Democrats can look themselves in the mirror is a mystery to me. The re-write by defenders will undoubtedly be profound.

Each day I log onto the Free Republic to check the countdown on Clintonism. I want the Bush family to call exterminators on Jan 21st and make a public display of counting the silverware.
When I first heard Juanita Broadrick's tearful description of how Clinton held her face in his mouth as he raped her, I sent emails to news organizations saying I wished he were dead. When the Secret Service arrived I told them I still wished he were dead, and so what? They shrugged, said they had to protect "the office" and sent me on my way. I told them to send me to jail if they didn't like it.
Now I understand that society will exact a greater revenge from this inglorious gas bag if he lives. He must live...to see, read, and hear former friends and allies express profound regret and shame for their association with him. The sheer magnitude of the defeat this fall will cause him to be further shunned and discredited as he shrinks from public life after the clean sweep of both houses and the presidency.
It's the perfect revenge. Served up cold.
His most important contribution to the presidency will be to our language. clintonian--never capitalized--but added to the popular culture as an adjective, will come to mean anything from 'malevolent' and 'unsavory', to 'lascivious', 'slippery', 'Machiavellian' or 'wicked'. Take your pick. clintonian as an adjective for anything unholy will punish him through his children and their children.
Clinton has become a caricature of himself. A boozy, impenitent southern pol -- a gasbag of diminishing importance and a source of shame to those who defended him in better times.
I see him shuffling around an underfunded library on a side street in Little Rock. [Embarrassed locals have a running argument each year whether to advertise the library as a tourist attraction] He will busy himself between angry phone calls to disavowing dems, and hitherto friendly newsrooms who use 'clintonian' and 'clintonism' as metaphors for evil.
Clinton's worst enemies will be the statists of the left, who shall rewrite history to defame him in ways the GOP did not. His waning years will be spent thundering against the tides of history which attempt to scrub the stain of this vulgarian from our presidency.
So no, I no longer ask where Lee Harvey Oswald was when we REALLY needed him, my favorite bumper sticker since '92.
