Paul, <Perhaps you were not at Intel in the spring of 1997 when Tom PabstSmear slammed the Pentium II before the official launch.>

I know, Tom isn't exactly batting above .200 with his anti-Intel statements. Some other examples:

- Tom thought AMD K6 was going to trounce Pentium II
- Tom said absolutely no one will go along with AGP
- Tom said the "open" Super 7 standard will win out over Intel's "proprietary" Slot 1
- Tom thought 3DNow! was going to take AMD's processors to new gaming performance heights
- Tom said that RDRAM will never catch on. (OK, so the jury is still out on this one, but that's one out of five).

The problem is that there are a lot of people out there who believe his crap, despite his bias and his poor record. Remember the Pentium FDIV fiasco, where the situation got so out of hand that everyone decided they needed a replacement processor, despite the fact that only a small handful of them would truly be affected by the bug? That's the kind of negative publicity I'm worried about, the kind where rationality and objectivity get tossed right out the window.
