Drew Perkins, representing a stealth-mode start-up I'd never heard of, spoke today and after hearing his background, I thought some might want to follow his company:

Click on the management link.
His presentation was so good, I'll post it as soon as they get it up on the website, as he said they'd do.
He went through each of the key technologies --- SONET, DWDM, Ethernet, and ATM --- and noted what was right and what was wrong.
First there was ILEC, then there was CLEC, and now there's BLEC --- Business Local Exchange Carrier --- using fiber to the building by-passing central offices. I don't think the concept is new, but the acronym is, at least to me.
There's one presentation I wish everyone could have heard --- by LightWave Microsystems --- which explains how AWGs are put into modules, so if anyone's interested, drop me an email and I'll send the file.
