Everything I've seen or read indicates WCDMA rollout is NOT gonna be timely.

Verve, could you elaborate a little on what you've seen or read? I'd agree that since W-CDMA is a brand-new technology of sorts, being a CDMA/GSM hybrid, when compared to cdma2000, which is, for all intents and purposes, a next-generation CDMAone upgrade, there's a better chance for rollout delays to happen with the former than the latter. There could also be potential delays related to standardization. However, the trials seem to be going as planned, no major carrier that I know of, including DoCoMo, has pushed back its expected rollout date, and standardization seems to be working out as well. Could you provide me with a couple of articles that explain why W-CDMA rollouts won't be taking place until "2004 or later"?

Eric

PS - Anyone know how Sonera's holding up with their 2002 3G target? It looks they're second in line to deploy.
