It might be a car radio with a CF slot instead of a tape deck or CD player.

Hey, i've read projections that CF will replace CD players or tape in Camcorders. But can we really expect to see CF replace those other forms of media? I think it makes sense in digital cameras and mp3 players..

In my opinion, a writable DVD rom would be perfect for a camcorder, however cost will keep this technology from becoming popular in the near term. Compact flash does allow camcorders to be smaller, which seems to be pretty important feature (maybe less moving parts, too?). There is also the threat from wireless (which i think was discussed on the GG thread, however, i can't remember the conclusion). QCOM would love to see CDMA used in digital cameras.

Ausdauer could you answer my other questions? How big is the CF card market expected to be in the next few years (i think it was 10B by 2005 or somtin, but not sure)? What % share does SNDK have right now? What % do they get royalties on? thx.

p.s. Is Sandisk expected to get royalties on all CF going forward?
