Neo, in your profile, you describe yourself as a "free-lance writer." Have you ever held a job-job? I rather doubt it.
I've held plenty. And I have advised people who complain about their "bosses" that "most bosses stink" (as they do), and to pay it no never mind IF their work, in itself, satisfies them, and if the stinky bosses don't prevent them from doing it.
But I did run into a situation once when the "boss" was bent on humiliating not just me, but a whole department. I got up and said, "this is unacceptable," and I quit on the spot. Nothing has ever given me more satisfaction. And everyone else was so envious of me! They all said: "I wish I had had the guts to do that! But...I have a family, blah, blah, blah...Oh, oh, oh, these golden chains!"
They could ALL have quit. They were qualified people; they could have found themselves other, appropriate work. They were just Afraid of the Unknown. So they stayed on, miserable, complaining, sour, etc.
Sorry, but personally I won't eat s**t. And I have trouble respecting people who will. |
