I'm envious, Gordon. I don't think I've ever even SEEN any of the fine guns Ross talks about, except in catalogs. In this part of the country, guns are like plows and branding irons -- old and well used tools. (Some of my neighbors still have 25-20's and 32-40's sitting next to the door, right where their grampaws kept them.)
I don't want to bore the thread with too much gun talk, but my criticism of the description of the youngster's shooting is based on my experience with kids that age. Regardless of practice, a kid's bone structure just isn't heavy enough to support the muscle it takes to shoulder, swing, lead and shoot a heavy rifle with such precision. I'm not saying it's impossible, just that such development in a kid is beyond anything I've ever seen. Not enough body mass.
FWIW, I checked out some of Ross's wildcat loads, and got some pretty good ideas for things to try at home, the sort of things that would make the reloading experts at Sierra cringe. <g> Mostly, though, I'm now working up a strong desire to get my own machine shop.
