.. What exaclty does that mean? I can
understand that the zip acts like the floppy at hard drive speeds and
the 100 meg storage advante, but "bootable"??? Please explain the
advantages?

I'm not the tec type and there are better qualified people here that can explane it but ill take a stab at your question.

A bootable Zip means you can start your computer from it.
If you can start your computer from something that means you can use the Zip to recover from a compleate hard drive crash.
I belive it also means you could run different opperating systems from the Zip if you booted from it. An example would be running some verision of Doss or maybe windows 3.something
I run windows 95 but am unsure how large the basic 95 opperating system is. If it is under 100mb you could run win95 from Zip.
In Short the BIG advantage is you won't need a 1.44 floppy anymore to recover from a hard drive crash.

So lets say you want to down load some stuff from the net but think it might ba a bomb from Joel for example. I think someone help me if im wrong here that if you started your computer from the bootable Zip drive and ran your net stuff from it and downloaded into the Zip your hard drive would be compleatly free from any affects of Joel's bomb

it could be something other than a bomb from Joel that you want to protect yourself from it could be the latest virus.
