Nigel is right, but here is a list of stock symbols of what you would call Autonomy's peer group.

I own 3 voice recognition stocks. Nuan,Spwx, and Lhsp. I think Autonomy's move in that area will be huge.
>LONDON, Aug 3 (Reuters) - Autonomy Corporation Plc <AUTN.ED> <AUTN.O> said on Thursday its software, which helps sooth information overload, boosted its second-quarter profits and would soon be able to listen as well as read.

Chief Executive Mike Lynch told analysts that products able to sift through speech would start to be shipped over the next couple of quarters, with the new function adding about 10-15 percent to the cost of its software packages.

"Our feeling is there is a very strong here-and-now pent-up demand for this," he told them in a conference call.

Autonomy software, based on mathematical probability theory, can understand context in prose rather than just identifying keywords, helping automate many processes which would otherwise need to be done manually.

The company made a pre-tax profit in the second quarter of $5.09 million, up tenfold from the $440,000 when it reported its first ever profit in the previous three months.

Gross margins remained dizzyingly high, at 90 percent compared with 93 percent in the first quarter.

In the second quarter to the end of June, earnings were three cents per newly split share. The three-for-one stock split took effect on August 1.

Autonomy shares on the Brussels-based Easdaq exchange opened up 25 cents at $47.75, but later slipped to $43 amid a general fall in technology and telecoms equipment shares across Europe.

They have outperformed the technology-heavy index by more than 10 times in the last 12 months to be one of Europe's best performing stocks over the period.

ASIA OPENS UP

Revenues for the quarter were $14.6 million, up from $11.7 million the quarter before.

Lynch said revenue from OEMs (manufacturers), who license Autonomy software to install in their products, should kick in more significantly from the end of this year.

Autonomy, whose Asia-Pacific operations generated initial revenues during the first quarter of 2000, said more than half its revenue had come from outside Europe in the second quarter.

"We are pleased to see Asia-Pacific opening up for us," Lynch said. The software can be used to sort text in major Asian languages too.

He said the company continued to sign up blue-chip clients across a broad group of industries and government sectors, especially in the lucrative U.S. market, over the quarter.

"In addition, we continue to drive our international expansion, securing a significant contract with Hutchison Whampoa's <0013.HK> tom.com, the largest portal site in China," he said.

Autonomy, which is based in Cambridge, where high-tech industries have sprung up around the ancient university, listed on Nasdaq in May. It was first listed on Easdaq in July 1998.

Lynch said Autonomy was actively considering a London listing. He also said he was looking for acquisitions that could bring useful technology, a geographic presence or help it cement relations with big corporate customers.
