Hytek Reports 70% Increase in Revenues for Second
Quarter And Increasing Demand for Opto-Electronic Support Products

CARSON CITY, Nev., July 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Hytek Microsystems, Inc. (Nasdaq: HTEK - news) announced today
unaudited results for the fiscal second quarter and six months ended July 1, 2000.

The Company earned $253,000, or $0.08 per share for the quarter just ended compared to a net loss of $(372,000), or
$(0.12) per share for the prior year second quarter. Revenues were $2.2 million for the second quarter of 2000, a 70%
increase over prior year second quarter revenues of $1.3 million.

For the first six months of fiscal 2000, the Company earned $422,000, or $0.13 per share, on revenues of $4.1 million,
compared to a net loss of $(606,000), or $(0.20) per share on revenues of $3.0 million for the first half of fiscal 1999.

``We are experiencing increasing demand for our opto-electronic support products, which accounted for approximately
25%
of second quarter revenues compared to 8% of revenues for the same quarter last year,'' said Chuck Byrne, Hytek President
and Chief Executive Officer. ``During the quarter, we made progress toward our goal to diversify and expand our customer
base. We are pleased that our products are now being utilized in quantity by companies such as Alcatel and Lucent
Technologies. We believe it lends credence to the design and quality of our products,'' noted Byrne.

Byrne also noted that the Company had added many new opto-electronic customers during the recent quarter, including
Avanex, JDS Uniphase and Lightlogic.

At the end of the six-month period, Hytek reported total assets of $7.4 million compared to $6.8 million at the end of fiscal
1999. The Company has a clean balance sheet with no long-term debt.

Hytek is currently in the development process with additional versions of the Thermo-Electric Cooler Controller and Laser
Diode Driver products in order to provide greater flexibility in providing micro-component solutions to the opto-electronics
market.

Founded in 1974, Hytek, headquartered in Carson City, Nevada, specializes in hybrid microelectronic circuits that are used
in
oil exploration, military applications, satellite systems, industrial electronics, opto-electronics, telecommunications,
fiber-optics
and other OEM applications.
