You are preaching to the choir here (to continue the musical analogy).
My wonderful sons are now 17 and 19 but not to worry- we sang and played our way through every one of those years. ANd we still sing every time we get together.

My 17 year old is a percussionist by the way; prepare for a very noisy future.
