Traveled first class, I see
Yes, we had saved half of our generous ($40/month) food stamp allotment for the past year. That meant we could devote all our cash to gasoline at the exhorbitant rate of 60 cents a gallon. We did splurge once, got all cleaned and shined, and went to a place called The Bangor House in Bangor Maine and had a fancy lobster dinner. Spent a month worth of gas money. The rest of the time we relied heavily on the kindness of strangers.
