Wireless Story

A friend of mine refused to get a landline when she bought a condo. She has a Qualcomm 860 that is her phone. Her carrier is now called Verizon.

To access her building, you punch a button on the outside wall of the building. Her phone rings. If she hits 9 on the phone, the person is buzzed in.

One day, she gets a call on her home phone in her office at work. The UPS guy is at her building to drop off some package. Unfortunately, she is several miles away at work. But she is nevertheless able to hit 9--from her home phone in her office--and let the UPS guy in her condo building to leave the package for her. She is spared a dash home or a trip to the UPS office.

Pretty slick. The distances are irrelevant. She could have been anywhere in the coverage area and accomplished the same thing.
