I would offer the CEO job to Greg Maffei. He knows CTXS since he was on their board until a couple of years ago. Until recently he was CFO of MSFT so he knows his stuff. He left for some startup. I can't remember which one.

I don't know what Ray Lane is up to since leaving ORCL. I think he wanted to run his own company and there was no way Ellison would let him. He was supposed to be a great salesman and manager closing huge enterprise wide deals. ORCL dropped when he left. He would also do nicely running CTXS.

If Greg or Ray can't do it, then I would offer the job to Al Gore. After all, he invented the internet and he'll be available soon.

Seriously, there must be some good talent out there with people bailing from dot coms. I hope they find someone soon. In the absence of tangible news (an elephant size deal, a big name CEO) the analysts simply will not have an "objective" reason to push the company. I put objective in quote marks because I still believe they and the Street over-reacted big time to the warning and certainly were not objective.

I believe that if a new CEO is hired and he/she is well known, the stock will go up 5-10 points and then slowly recover to its old highs after a couple of decent quarters, maybe by next spring.

There is still huge interest in the stock. In the after hours today there was the following giant buy:
08/04/00 16:19:05 15.000 1,052,300
It was the heaviest traded stock in the after hours with 1.16 million shares and it closed at 15.13.
Some one is accummulating big time.
