Boxing-Roberto Duran's Daughter Loses in Ring Debut

LAS VEGAS (Reuters) - Irichelle Duran, daughter of boxing
legend Roberto Duran, lost a four-round split decision in her
super bantamweight professional debut in Las Vegas on Friday.

The 23-year-old Duran, who was born in Panama but lives in
Australia, lost by scores of 39-37, 39-37 and 37-39 to Geraldine
Iglesias of Cleveland, Ohio. The 20-year-old Iglesias, now 1-1,
was more active than Duran but displayed little technique and no
power.

Duran landed several soft, straight rights but bounced and
weaved more than she punched. She seldom put together any
combinations.

Her 49-year-old father is scheduled to fight P.J. Goosen in
Yakima, Wash., on Aug. 12.
