"They are not switching it, they are building a new GPRS networks. The packet data from MS will be routed to GPRS backbone networks via SGSN then routed to the internet via GGSN. And this networks will be useless when WCDMA come into the play"

Can you all QCOM:ers try to get this in your heads now.
The same core network nodes which are used for GSM will be used forWCDMA.When they are upgraded with new software they will be able to handle both GSM and WCDMA at the same time.So the SGSN,GGSN:s,MSC,HLR and the rest of the node will not be replaced when starting the WCDMA system. They will just put WCDMA RAN:s(Radio access networks) and/or GSM RAN:s on the same CN nodes.
Another thing
Japan Telecom and Docomo will go in service in 2001.A lot of europeans
will go in service the first half of 2002.
