Frank- I still have to go back and re-read your upstream response to me concerning my confusion about the STB being the connection to a new IP based new TV broadcast network. I thought that was the model you were proposing, but I must have mis-read. Sorry.

In the meantime(related to your comment above), I did come across a product out of GI(now MOT), the DCT-5000, that does indeed have a built-in DOCIS cable modem. This is a guess, but I would say there are about zero orders for it. I agree with your comments, "But a chip does not an industry architecture make." And, "I've lost count of the number of vedors who've come out with software, DSPs and other chips to support VoIP over cable." I'm in total agreement with both statements.

In that regards, the only here and now stuff I see(generating REAL revenues today) are the plain old(again relatively speaking) dual analog/digital STB. And good old circuit-switched cable telephony. The likes of which ANTC is king, TLAB and ADCT are a distant 2nd and 3rd in terms of number of lines deployed. -MikeM(From Florida)
