This is industry jargon for the processors to be placed on shipping/handling trays - often for automatic insertion into PC boards - with perhaps 10 or more per tray.

The processors are just that - processors - with NO HEAT SINK or fan assemblies. Those must be provided seperately by the manufacturer.

The other method - BOXED PROCESSORS - implies a CPU with heat sink/fan assembly attached and it - are you ready for this? - comes in a BOX - preassembled !!

These are used for small customers, on-line retail, etc.
