They needed to get a revenue generating part out the door and they needed a market segment that would allow them to grow - and not be a niche supplier in a niche market. As for difficulty, Compaq/DEC apparently has it all figured out for the Alpha, and isn't Compaq an AMD partner ? Hint, hint, winky winky !! Paul
