peggylynn, you may be correct. I think I do remember reading something about each vendor's version of SONET being different from the other. In other words, you would not be able to insert a Lucent SONET link or Alcatel SONET link in a Nortel SONET network. I think that is because each of these vendors has their own network management system. This is not to say they are not interoperable. If that is true, then it seems that Nortel would be entitled to a gorilla status because switching costs are very high. Nevertheless, the people on the gorilla thread have steadfastly refused to assign Nortel a gorilla status and have insisted she is an OC-192 King.
