The event that caused the First Dark Age was a lot bigger than Tunguska. Sometime in the Bronze Age a thriving civilization was lost. They had writing, built great walled cities, and had a market economy. It collapsed so thoroughly it became legendary. The entire Eastern Mediterranean was affected. The walls of Tiryns were so large and imposing that the people who lived in the region thought they were built by giants. These people had no memory of their own ancestors.

I read about the figurines in Idaho a while back, I'll see if I can find something on the web, or at least a reference.

As I recall, it was the current administration in Washington who decided to bury the site of Kennewick Man under tons of stone. The Army Corps of Engineers were acting on direct orders from the White House. Leave it to this crew to politicize science.
