Samuel H. Havens, Chairman of the Board
Samuel H. Havens is Chairman of the Board of Advica Health Resources. Mr. Havens is a recognized leader in the managed care industry and provides a unique strategic and business perspective for the company.

Until mid-1996, Mr. Havens spent most of his career with The Prudential Insurance Company of America, culminating in his role as President of Prudential Healthcare, responsible for all health and dental operations with over $5 billion in revenue.

While Mr. Havens was in this position, managed care membership grew to over 4 million lives and dental membership grew to over 2 million lives. As an innovator in managed care reporting and quality issues, Mr. Havens ensured that PruCare became the first national health plan company to be accredited by the National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA). Also, he created the Prudential Research Center - a leader in the development of outcomes studies and consumer report cards. Mr. Havens served on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Health Plans for 15 years and was Chairman of the Board of Directors from 1992 to 1994.

In addition to his role with Advica Health Resources, Mr. Havens serves on the Board of Directors of National Imaging Associates, Brinmark Oncology and Alignis Corporation. He also sits on the editorial board of Managed Care Quarterly.

Mr. Havens received his B.A. from Hamilton College and his J.D. from Temple Law School.
