Rande and the thread: a question on AMAT earnings report.

I think the CSCO earnings report is predictable -- beats the Street estimate by 1 cent with 35-40% revenue growth and positive outlook going forward. I think the AMAT earnings report is the one that will determine NASDAQ's moves over the next 2-3 weeks. Which bring up the following question(s): (1) what is your guess as to how the AMAT earnings report will play out, and (2) as beaten down as the semiconductor sector is, would anyone be buying these stocks (TXN, ADI, XLNX, ALTR, ADI, AMAT, NVLS, etc.) at this time or do they still have more significant downside? I must admit, some of the stock prices look quite compelling, but I am uncertain about buying semiconductor stocks prior to the AMAT report.
