Goutama,

<If true, this would bode well for AMD. It seems AMD is in a great shape to crank out high MHz Athlons in great numbers.>

Agreed. 1.1G launch should be smooth and the associated drop in 1GHz and lower prices should compensate for Duron glitches.

<Looks like AMD is gearing up to create market demand to be able to sell its planned production of 7.6M Athlons + Durons in Q4'00. Does any body here have an idea on how many K6xs AMD is planning for the next quarter(or total CPU units)?>

If AMD plays its card right, most of the market share lost to Celerons in Q2/Q3 due to the disastrous Duron launch should be made up in Q4. Duron should be a killer Chrismas season product. As far as K6s in Q4 are concerned the guidance seems to suggest a number less than 2Mu.

<By the time these supposed price cuts (September 5) take place, we may see some Duron SKUs from major OEMS. Next quarter going to be a great one with Durons 600-750MHz, Athlons at 800MHZ and above, at least three chipsets (VIA, ALI and AMD) - some with DDR SDRAM support, ATHLON SMP boards, etc.>

Assuming decent ramp of Mustang, I wouldn't be surprised to aggressive MHz ramp on Durons this holiday season to make up for the lost time in Q2/Q3. That should help cut any threat of price moves by Intel to retain Celeron market share at the low-end.
