Chuck - RE: "If AMD plays its card right, most of the market share lost to Celerons in Q2/Q3 due to the disastrous Duron launch should be made up in Q4. Duron should be a killer Chrismas season product."

I completely agree. What has REALLY ticked me off about the absolutely screwed lack of an OEM launch for Duron is that the Duron is such a superior processor compared to the Celeron and therefore AMD could have already won back so much marketshare and mindshare with the Duron they lost when the K6-2 ran out of air. I really believe Duron is a product that can sell itself, and the faster OEMs start selling Duron, the faster AMD starts selling more processors than ever before. Maybe Duron will be the ticket into the commercial market. Wouldn't that be something!

I think at least close to half the 7.2M "seventh-gen" processors sold in Q4 will be Durons. Certain people need to take this into consideration when they come up with ASP estimates for AMD...

"Assuming decent ramp of Mustang, I wouldn't be surprised to aggressive MHz ramp on Durons this holiday season to make up for the lost time in Q2/Q3. That should help cut any threat of price moves by Intel to retain Celeron market share at the low-end."

That sure would be great. Overclockers on the net have been able to get Durons from 800MHz to 900MHz by changing the multiplier and upping the voltage (which is low for Duron because of its MHz), so MHz should not be an issue for Duron. I guess Athlon binsplits will determine what MHz Durons will sell at.
