Infranet Platform Enables Sprint to Remain Competitive in Global Communications Marketplace
Portal Software Inc. PRSF , a leading provider of business infrastructure software for Internet and next-generation communications services, today announced that after evaluating eight billing and customer care vendors, Sprint, a global communications company, has selected Infranet software to replace the existing customer care application within its IP Dial product line. Infranet will provide Sprint with an open, product-based customer management and billing platform to support a variety of the company's advanced dial-up IP services such as Virtual Private Network (VPN) services and business class Internet access.
"Portal's Infranet is a highly flexible platform that enables Sprint to improve our customer account administration with an eye toward offering more flexible billing options in the future. The modular architecture of Infranet will allow us to readily add additional capabilities over time," said Christopher Clark, vice president of marketing and product management, Sprint Internet. "Portal's willingness to provide extensive training and implementation resources also demonstrated a commitment toward ensuring Sprint's success with this application."
Sprint evaluated eight vendor applications before concluding its selection process. Infranet was selected after Sprint conducted laboratory testing to confirm product scalability as well as the ability to handle complex IP accounting records. With Portal's FastTrak Implementation program, Sprint's IT personnel will receive personalized product training to help ensure successful implementation.
"For large communications companies such as Sprint, a product-based customer management and billing platform that can be easily customized is the only approach for competing in the Internet services market," said Steve Sommer, vice president of business development, Portal Software. "Infranet's flexibility encourages our customers to quickly build their own product expertise and leverage our real-time technology as their business models expand or evolve."
