ViewCast.com Integrates RealSystem 8 Into ViewCast Turnkey Streaming Systems
RealNetworks Offers RealVideo Creation Kit Featuring Osprey Video cards
DALLAS, Aug. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- ViewCast.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: VCST - news), a leading provider of Internet and networked video solutions, announced today that it would integrate RealNetworks®, Inc.'s (Nasdaq: RNWK - news) RealSystem® 8 into ViewCast® encoding and serving system solutions. In addition, RealSystem 8 is fully supported by ViewCast.com's Osprey Video capture cards. RealSystem 8, incorporating RealVideo® 8, delivers a high clarity, full- motion video experience to consumers delivering full-screen VHS quality at mainstream broadband rates, and near DVD-quality video to those using high- capacity networks or downloadable media.

ViewCast.com demonstrated the integrated RealSystem 8 and ViewCast.com encoding and serving system solutions at Streaming Media East in New York City in June. RealNetworks is also featuring the Osprey-100 Video capture card in the RealVideo Creation kit, available for $399, and can be found at www.realnetworks.com.

``With RealSystem 8, RealNetworks is pushing the quality envelope, making the Internet a truly viable and exciting broadcast medium,'' said Neal Page, vice president and general manager of ViewCast.com's Osprey Technologies Division. ``We've already received many inquiries from our customers who wanted to know if we were going to offer turnkey solutions with RealSystem 8 on board. The answer is a resounding yes.''

ViewCast systems are fully-configured, turnkey encoding stations and streaming servers that enable streaming media content creators - professional broadcasters, corporations, government agencies, schools and organizations - to quickly and easily add live and on-demand streaming media to their networks and Web sites.

``RealNetworks depends upon our partners, like ViewCast.com with its outstanding line of Osprey Video capture cards, to maximize the breakthrough quality of RealVideo 8 in the marketplace,'' said Kevin Foreman, general manager, Developer and Partner Relations, RealNetworks, Inc. ``ViewCast turnkey systems, combined with the scalable and reliable RealSystem 8, provide an easy and fast solution for customers wanting to add the industry's best- quality video to their Web sites.''

New features offered by RealSystem 8 include the industry's first robust support for native streaming MP3 files; Flash 4 support; the ability to take advantage of HTML pages and capabilities directly within the RealPlayer®, allowing content authors to include forms, scrolling and custom controls; and many others.
