Re: I don't see how IA64 would affect AMD. Since AMD and Intel's 64 bit platforms have nothing in common, it will be exceedingly difficult for AMD's to succeed if Intel has already gotten a sizable 64-bit market share position when AMD's comes out (i.e.: who would want to adapt x86-64 if IA64 already appears to be on the path to dominance?). Luckily, if AMD hits with sledgehammer by 2H 2001, AMD should be fine given the joke (aka: "testing platform") that Itanium appears to be, and the non-arrival of McKinley until about the same time frame as SledgeHammer. -Eric
