Andreas,

<They didn't say that Durons would ship in July, they only stated that Compaq and other OEMs would introduce Duron systems. AMD never gave a specific date.>

Check Duron release from June.

<I think it isn't very surprising that major OEMs like Compaq or HP need more time than a month or two to design a completely new system with a brand new infrastructure (Socket A). If Duron was Slot-based we probably would have seen SDKs sooner. But with the new infrastructure (and the delays from Via) it was only natural that the whole process would take more time. >

I would say that you are defending pathetic performance. I am not sure I have anything to say here.

<I don't think it is a good idea to blame your partner on a conference call of a "earnings shortfall". >

What "earnings shortfall"? And, who is talking about "blaming your partner"?

All AMD needed to do was acknowledge the problem instead of issuing a glorious press release about how good the infrastructure support was. Showing a corrective action plan would have built the credibility - which this management BADLY needs.

Chuck

P.S.: I have said all I want to say on this. I am done with this topic.
